Can a revival in America be fulfilled through the Korean American second generations? It seemed that the resonant praise and loud prayers of second generation last weekend was the answer to the question. The 6th SEND YOUR REIGN took place for two days on August 15-16 securing its place as a festival of second generation Christian youth mobilizing a total number of 4,000 people.
The 6th SEND YOUR REIGN curtain rose with a video capturing the sights of youths with 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Go! The video drew the process of a student Darren who after losing the faith returns to Christ once again and embeds the message that the cross is the only truth and must deliver the truth to nonbelievers as well.
Continuing on there was a tranquil CCM prepared that holds the confession to become the beautiful feet that spreads the gospel after repenting his heart of disbelief and wickedness. As the atmosphere became stronger with the praise of repentance at one side the sounds of earnest prayer of second generation started to resound while some stood freely and praised.
With a powerful message from Pastor Ronnie Hill on ¡®To obey is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15)¡¯ the atmosphere of the gathering reached its climax. ¡°Obeying the word of God 80% is the same as disobeying it 100%. If we have an image of ourselves going against the word of God then we must lay everything down and repent,¡± shared Pastor Ronnie Hill. ¡°If we have seen any illegal media, or used drugs, alcohol we must repent. On top of that if we are dating a nonbeliever we must lay it down. I have come to proclaim the truth not to become a buddy. God desires 100% obedience. Because he wishes for us to have something better just like the time when Abraham was offering Isaac as the offering and because he extremely loves you,¡± added Pastor Ronnie Hill.
Afterwards there was time of commitments where about 60% of participants came up towards the platform that accepted Christ and dedicated their lives to God. The Youth leaders also came out to pray and bless them. On the second day the attendants set up plan to evangelize friends and family member who are nonbelievers.
Behind the overflowing grace of SEND YOUR REIGN it was only possible through the continuous intercessory prayers and preparation of first and second generations. Pastor Dong jin Lee who has been leading the gathering with a plan for second generation ministry shared, ¡°Everything was done by God. We are very happy that there were many that made their first-time commitments or dedicated their lives. There were also many youth leaders and ministers that attended the event I wish that we would remember to have continuous follow up programs to raise them.¡±
¡°We prepared with the heart of wishing for a revival in America to happen through the Korean American second generation Christians,¡± shared deacon Grace at New Hope Baptist Church.
Intern-pastor Joel Lee also shared, ¡°The staff prepared for the event with the same heart and vision and I believe the intercessory prayer of 2 months revealed a great strength. I was a little worried since Pastor Ronnie Hill message were a bit tough however there were many first-time commitments that I expected.¡±
¡°I received much grace through the worship and message. But I wish that gatherings like this will not conclude just as one time event but continue with follow up events in each church,¡± reflected Amy Kim, youth worker.
